The endless plains of the Serengeti
The Serengeti in Tanzania is Africa’s premier wildlife region where the wildebeest migration, and the quality, scale and frequency of the sightings of wildlife in the huge, open, “endless plains” are incomparable to anywhere else…
I have selected images and perspectives from our recent trip that represent different areas of the Serengeti that we visited, including Kleins Camp in the Northern hills, Grumeti River Lodge in the West, and the Rongai hills camp near Seronela in central Serengeti.
The Grumeti area in the western corridor of the Serengeti is famous for the annual sighting of the animal migration as well as the large prides of lion. It is fairly common to find big cats and cubs climbing trees and lounging together, hanging from branches in the cool of the shade. This young adolescent, gazing at us through a natural frame of branches in a tree has such an appealing look of curiosity and innocence and is one of my favourite images!
