Combating rhino poaching
We shared a special weekend in Zululand with a remarkable group of wildlife conservationists, game rangers, vets, camp managers and aerial support pilots, watching them implement a range of anti- poaching interventions and courageously meeting the risky challenge of saving our rhinos. It was a sobering experience witnessing the heart wrenching surgical removal under anaesthesia, of a darted white rhino’s horns. This procedure eliminates the temptation of poaching, ultimately securing the rhino’s survival.
What was so impressive about this rhino encounter exposure was the privilege of observing these dedicated professionals going about their everyday operations and listening to their amazing stories and informative views regarding the rhino crisis. Our group was so impressed with the team members’ passion, commitment and genuine care for changing the tragic plight of the rhinos – an insightful glimpse to the harsh realities of rhino poaching and the dehorning interventions – an unforgettable experience!
